The collaboaration that we’ve all been waiting here is finally here. Meg and Cardi finally dropped their song “WAP” today anddddd ISSA HIT!
In this day and age, female rappers are always pitted against each other an with that comes beef. For instance, there was the Remy Ma and Nicki beef then the Nicki and Cardi beef. Even though Nicki and Cardi collaborated on “MotorSport” together, it was mainly for the fans and not a genuine connection/collaboration. Luckily the narrative is changing over time; artists like City Girls have collaborated, Nicki Minaj and Meg Thee Stallion; and FINALLY Meg and Cardi.
DaniiGold– Meg and Cardi
The two ladies sampled Frank Ski’s “Whores in this House” but it has its modern touch to it. The video is EVERYTHING from snakes to splits…
To other female artists…

And a random appearance from Kylie Jenner
Anywho, after a long day of folks debating on how “hot or not” the record is, Danii Gold approves. Men talk about their dicks and promote drugs, but it seems as if when women do it, they’ve looked at differently. Women are keeping that same energy as men and there should not be a double standard to it.
More importantly, there was unity in this video, women coming together, having fun, shaking their ass, and then some!
What are your thoughts on the video?? Comment below and let me know!
Teyana released her anticipated lengthy album a week ago on Friday June 19th and she definitely made up for the seven song KTSE album. After taking a full week to listen to the 23 track album, I can give a legit review. Teyana has been on an incline for the past 2-6 years from acting in the VH1 show Hit The Floor, to her album VII in 2014, then KTSE in 2018.
This album starts off with the audio of her giving birth to her first child Junie, in which her husband Iman helped deliver in their bathroom. You can hear the excitement and emotion from him and it’s a tear-jerker just listening to it. The next song “Come Back To Me” has a vocals from Junie and a Rick Ross feature. This song is special because it’s something that everyone has dealt with– a relationship or situationship that could or could not be meant for you, but if that person is meant to be with you then he or she will come back into your life.
She has a lot of female influences on this album such as featuring Erykah Badu on “Low Key” which is paying homage to her song “Next Lifetime”. Another influence was Blaque’s song “808” in her song “Boomin;” “Ever Ever” which is a Lauryn Hill “Sweetest Thing” sample; “Try Again” –clearly an Aaliyah & Timberland sample; and “How Do U Want It” is sampled from Total and Mase’ “What You Want.”
A few others include “Friends,” sampled from Musiq Souldchild’s “Just Friends.” “Made It” has the Juvenile “Back That Azz Up” sample. The last song on the album was sampled from a 1970s group called The YoungHearts and their song “We Got Love.”
One of Teyana’s powerful songs is “Still”; in a recent interview she said it’s not about wanting love from someone but instead being Black in America and crying/wanting for love, hope and peace. Majority of the album is about love, relationship ups and downs and happiness of course. She did not disappoint with the album and you can tell she put her best songs on this thang.
Wale doesn’t stop working! He dropped his newest EP on Friday June 19th, ironically Juneteenth. The album addresses the current state of the word, which is police killing innocent black PEOPLE, the uproar it’s causing and the lack of justice that needs to be served. His first song “Movin Different” has excerpts from the news reporting on protests. His next song “Empty Wishing Well” featuring amazing vocals from Eric Bellinger. The song is about everyday things with a touch of lovey dovey in there. “Blue Yellow Green Pink White” has the Cha Cha Slide” sample, which is a given that this song is more of a dance upbeat record; it reminds me of “Debbie” on the Wow…That’s Crazy album.
“JUNE 5th / QueenZnGodZ” speaks on what happened on that day a few weeks ago; more protests and justice still not being served. The best verse in this song is
“We the sports and the music, do the math we the culture.”
He talks about the Karens of the world and the popular excerpt from Tamika Mallory’s speech not long ago–
“I don’t give a damn if they burn down Target because Target should be in the streets like us.”
That was in response to Rayshard Brooks being killed. The song then goes into the “QueenZnGodz” song states that we, women are Queens and the Men are Gods, which is really mythological.
“Shit Don’t Stop” is another banger with Eric Bellinger; Wale talks on him still being here on earth is due to someone praying for him because it’s so much going on in the world and the odds are against him, a black man. The next song “Maajo” is another upbeat dance record but Wale briefly talks about COVID, people wearing masks and even The Last Dance.
Overall, this was a great EP especially since he dropped his last album back in October, which didn’t disappoint. Wale has a way with staying current with the times and keeping a sense of relevance to a dedicated, intimate fan base. He may not seem mainstream and may even be underappreciated, but the real fans of his know what’s up.
Issa Rae and writers of Insecure never disappoint when it comes to the show. This season did start off slow with the developing friendship between Condola and Issa, Molly’s new relationship with Andrew and more, Nathan coming back in the picture and more.
tvline.comAt the start of the season Issa is focusing on putting together a block party, and that requires a lot of time and effort. Molly, being the selfish person that she is, not only got jealous of Issa’s new friendship with Condola but also the less amount of time that she was spending with her [Molly]. In the midst of all that, Molly’s new relationship is getting serious but as always, she finds a way to make herself look selfish. One of the most intense episodes of the season is when Issa and Molly have a huge fight about Issa “neglecting” their relationship AND for Issa inadvertently asking for Andrew’s help with talent at her block party.

It seemed like they [Issa’s and Molly] needed to communicate a little more and even give themselves a break from each other. Molly needed time to focus on her relationship and Issa on her event. It seems like Molly makes everything about her and takes everything very personal, like the Thanksgiving episode when Issa didn’t come to her parents house but Issa kept in the loop about her not coming. Molly also showed her TRUE hating side when she didn’t want to ask Andrew for help with Issa’s block party. Andrew seen the hate but, by default he had to chose Molly’s side and shut up but in private, he told her about herself. Of course, Issa was the bigger person and reached out to Molly to meet up, talk and break the ice. There was an awkward moment in the midst of that where Molly seemed like she was forcing the mending of their friendship and Issa found out and decided to let it go and let them be–apart; BUT in the last episode at the very end, they met up to talk.

Let’s talk about how Tiffany was going through postpartum depression and there was baby steps leading up to the big scare such as her being nonchalant weeks after the baby was born, then being completely carefree at the block party and not wanting to even check on her sick daughter but instead wanted to continue having fun. Then, she went completely MIA for a day and a half. When mama needs a break, she needs a break!

At last– Issa and Lawrence rekindling the flame! I loved how they established a common ground on things when he was dating Condola. Eventually they got their friendship back and then spoke on their feelings and details about their breakup. Of course, Lawrence and Condola broke up (THANK GOD) and Issa and Lawrence were able to relive their relationship for days, probably weeks, even though Lawrence accepted a job in San Francisco. Issa being the optimistic person that she is, decided that they’ll make it work with distance or even her moving there with him. Then, all of a sudden Condola comes back in the picture to announce that she’s pregnant.
I was part of the hive that wanted to see Issa and Lawrence back together. She suffered enough from feeling guilty about cheating on him and Lawrence finally got his life together and explored the dating scene ( A LOT). Condola didn’t want a baby and barely her marriage BUT she wants a baby by her ex [Lawrence] whom she was only with for a few months. That makes no sense BUT in a perspective view, Condola feels like she is at the age where she wants to have children.
We ALL were rooting for Issa and Lawrence but Canola Oil- Condeleeza-Coronavirus CONDOLA just had to mess up they reunion. The question is what will happen in season 5? Will Molly and Issa remain cool? Will Tiffany seek therapy for her postpartum depression or just weigh it out? Lastly, Will Issa and Lawrence relationship last with a baby on the way??? W shall find out!
LASTLY Lastly, Kelli is the shit and one of the best characters. She has some of the best lines in the show, from her acting like a british lady, to being serious AF when looking for Tiffany. Kelli is DOPE AF!
It’s been a lot going on in the world, and the message has been clear but just in case you wondered where Danii Gold stands on all of this, here it is:
Black Lives Matter.
Police harass black people more than white people.
White privilege exists.
If you aren’t black or a person of color then you wouldn’t understand.
There are some white people who use their privilege to educate the ignorant.
If you aren’t enlightened, then get enlightened.
We (black people) aren’t considered equal to white people in SOME of their eyes….STILL.
It’s 2020 and we are still fighting for equality and having to prove we matter even though there’s a whole anthem and amendments out there created for this country (USA).
The proof is in the pudding and there are laws that are clear as day to show that black people have never been equal, such as the the LATE abolishment of slavery in 1865 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Non-black people or non people of color….educate ya self.
My fellow black people, let’s keep fighting the fight.
